Carolean Chair

A Carolean Chair is a chair produced during the reign of King Charles II (1660--1685) or inspired by the furniture of that period. Characterised by robust turned legs, carved stretchers, high backs and cane or upholstered seats, Carolean chairs reflect the influence of Dutch and Continental design introduced following the Restoration. Original examples are highly prized for their historical significance and craftsmanship.
