Dome Lantern

A Dome Lantern is a suspended ceiling lantern distinguished by its rounded or domed upper section enclosing glazed panels beneath. Traditionally used in entrance halls, stairwells, porches and vestibules, dome lanterns became particularly popular during the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian periods. Antique examples are commonly crafted in brass, copper or wrought iron and provide both architectural presence and elegant illumination. *Related Terms*\ Brass Lantern, Ceiling Lantern, Hall Lantern, Hanging Lantern, Vestibule Lantern.
