Eyelet Embroidery

Eyelet Embroidery is a decorative needlework technique in which small holes are carefully cut into fabric and finished with closely stitched edges to create ornamental openwork patterns. Frequently used on linen and cotton, eyelet embroidery became especially popular during the Victorian and Edwardian periods for clothing, household linens and decorative textiles. Antique examples are admired for their delicate appearance and the precision of their hand stitching. *Related Terms*\ Broderie Anglaise, Embroidery, Needlework, Openwork, Whitework, Textile.
