Apple wood is a dense fruitwood valued for its fine grain, smooth texture and attractive reddish-brown colouring. Although rarely used for large pieces of furniture, it has traditionally been employed for small decorative objects, carved items, tool handles and turned work. Antique apple wood develops a rich natural patina over time.
