Empire Silk refers to luxurious silk textiles produced during, or inspired by, the French Empire period of the early nineteenth century. Characterised by elegant woven patterns, classical motifs and rich colours, Empire silks were widely used for upholstery, curtains, wall coverings and fine furnishings in grand European interiors.
