Dimity

Dimity is a lightweight cotton fabric characterised by raised woven stripes, cords or geometric patterns. Popular during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, dimity was widely used for bed hangings, curtains, upholstery, children\'s clothing and household furnishings. Its crisp appearance, durability and subtle texture made it a favourite textile in both Georgian and Victorian interiors. *Related Terms*\ Cotton, Fabric, Muslin, Textile, Upholstery.
