French Vitrine is a glazed display cabinet designed to showcase fine porcelain, glass, silver and decorative objects while protecting them from dust. Often featuring elegant carved frames, ormolu mounts and glass panels on multiple sides, French vitrines became particularly fashionable during the nineteenth century. Antique examples remain highly prized by collectors and interior designers.
