Braid

Braid is a decorative woven trim used to embellish upholstery, curtains, lampshades, military uniforms and soft furnishings. Produced from materials such as silk, cotton, wool, linen or metallic threads, braid has been used for centuries to add texture, definition and refinement to both furniture and interior decoration. Antique braid is particularly associated with Victorian, Edwardian and French furnishings, where it was often applied to upholstered seating and drapery as a decorative finish.
