Baluster

A Baluster is a turned or moulded vertical support originally used in staircases, balconies and architectural balustrades. In furniture and lighting, the term describes a vase-shaped or column-like form commonly found in lamp bases, candlesticks, table legs and pedestal supports. Baluster designs have remained popular from the Renaissance through to the Victorian period due to their elegant proportions and classical inspiration.
